How do I get there What is Disabled Dancing? Who are the Teachers? What is the History Why is it so? (Vision)
Disabled Dancer dares
Philosophy
Philosophically the Workshops are run on three principle "words" which are expressed to all participants, parents and persons teaching.
Inspiration.
To seek to inspire each other to extend ourselves beyond that which we once believed or were taught was possible and create new realms of possibility.   It's about providing an incentive, conveyed in a manner that creates for each of us, in our world, the possibility to be inspired to believe in the "impossible".
Respect.
Dignity, Self Esteem, or just basic Courtesy!   It's about having & giving respect to each other be they participant, teacher, parent/guardian and the dream to Dance we can share.
Can-do.
Can-do is about a vision of Achievement!!
Too often we are preoccupied by the mental fixation on the inability rather than the possibility [the CAN'T-DO as opposed to the CAN-DO].   Such a tunnel vision that affects one's perception of just what they can achieve.   In my experience it's more often about an attitude than any disability, a belief as opposed to a truth.   "Can't" is a convenience . . . . not a reality.
Therefore we are not interested in one's disability, be that mental or physical, we are only interested in what you Can-Do as Dancers!
VISION.

JOIN OUR VISION

The Workshops will explore our dance, movement and percussive possibilities with the aims being:
  • To break the Glass ceilings that have us believe dance is not adaptable for us.
  • To create new movement choreography for this community.
  • To learn to adapt movement style to the variety of disability profiles of participants.
  • To learn new ways of communicating movement arts to the disabled community.
  • To rehearse participants in the Palmas Rhythms from Flamenco dance.
  • To provide a wider appreciation of the scope of dance entertainment
  • To encourage participants self esteem and awareness of their capacity to inspire us by their unwillingness to surrender in the face of adversity.

I would love to have the opportunity to talk to anyone who may be prepared to provide with assistance, mentoring, direction, resources PEOPLE / PARTICIPANTS and so assist to create workshops we can all be INSPIRED by.
Thank you if you have read and considered all this and I hope we may speak soon.
